This course provides the essential WHS and risk management knowledge, skills and national Units of Competency required for Statutory Supervisors in the Western Australian mining industry.

As a Statutory Supervisor you will oversee elevated levels of risk within your work area. This course ensures you receive a comprehensive and well-rounded knowledge base, directly relevant to the role and responsibilities of supervisors in the mining sector.

Other Training

This course covers two Units of Competency, which meet the WorkSafe requirements under Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022:

  • BSBWHS411 – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
  • BSBWHS414 – Contribute to WHS risk management.

As well as completing the two Units of Competency, there is also an examination component that Statutory Supervisors are required to pass. This is managed by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS)

Implement and monitor the work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs for one work area in an organisation.

During the above, the candidate must:

  • explain relevant WHS information clearly and accurately to work team
  • provide work team with access to WHS policies, procedures and programs in appropriate structure and language
  • implement and monitor procedures, according to WHS legislative and organisational requirements, for:
  • consultation on and communication about WHS hazards and risks
  • WHS training needs and learning opportunities
  • WHS records
  • using WHS aggregate data relating to hazards and risk control.
  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Present photo I.D. on arrival
  • Complete a ‘Fitness for Work’ form – Candidates are required to declare any medical issue that may exclude them from full participation
  • Wear normal work clothing, enclosed footwear and remove all jewellery prior to commencement
  • This course is delivered over two (2) days
  • Training and assessment is delivered face to face at Altrad’s premises
  • Upon arrangement, training can be conducted on-site at the premises of our clients providing there is suitable infrastructure and training facilities. Contact us for more details
  • Assessment will include a WorkSafe written calculations and theory assessment and practical demonstration

NOTE: WorkSafe written assessments are ‘Closed book’.

If you are found not yet competent, you may re-sit this assessment. Refer Student Information Book.

On successful completion of this course candidates will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the Unit/s of Competency.

Your Statement of Attainment does not have an expiry date, however, your High Risk Work Licence expires every five (5) years. You must not carry out high risk work until your licence has been renewed.
